About Marcy Humphrey

Marriage & Family Therapist, MS, LMFT

Having a difficult time shutting your mind off at night? When was the last time you felt refreshed and rested? Has the stress of life affected your relationship with your partner as you have not been able to communicate what is really going on? It does not have to be this way as there are several ways therapy can help much faster than you think. As an experienced therapist, I am "unshockable" and can handle whatever it is you are struggling with. Sometimes we think of all the reasons we cannot start taking control of our lives, but what is really holding you back from starting to make change now?

I am here to help you feel heard in life as I help you create a plan for change. I have twenty years experience with adolescents, adults, and couples and will help you figure out what areas you are ready to change in your life. Change can be scary and I am willing to work as fast or slow with these changes as you are. Let me tailor the treatment to you.

Call or email to schedule a session at my office which is located within a safe environment filled with several other healing professionals or with online counseling from the comfort of your home or office. This location is only minutes from downtown and the connector with free street parking. I am open to working with all couple relationships and am LGBTQIA affirming . Daytime appointments are available.

About My Clients

Thinking about making change can be scary and we can often focus on all the reasons why we may just want to keep things as they are now. But even small, slow changes can improve our life in ways we always wanted but maybe didn't even know was possible. Remember, we can move at the pace you are ready for. The real question is...are you ready to do something different in your life?

My clients include individuals and couples who...

  • Have the life they always thought they wanted but are not fulfilled
  • Are successful but experience a critical, inner voice and maybe guilt
  • Have difficulties feeling or expressing painful emotions
  • Struggle with communicating with their partners and have conflict
  • Experience anxiety and have difficulties feeling relaxed and rested
  • Get overwhelmed with life and may feel empty or sad
  • Are not succeeding in college due to the stress
  • Are new moms who didn't know having a baby would be so hard
  • Are premarital couples wanting to learn how to continue to be successful
  • Are couples trying to heal to avoid divorce
  • Are ready to heal from their trauma
  • Are grieving the loss of a loved one
  • Are experiencing isolation, worries, and stress related to the changes resulting from COVID-19

We don't heal in isolation and change is possible when you are ready.

My Background and Approach

My focus is on treating anxiety, depression, and stress and helping individuals to create a life that is balanced. I utilize mindfulness approaches and focus on helping individuals live in the present. I also specialize in couples therapy and premarital counseling as I believe we thrive when our partner relationships are healthy and fulfilling. Sharing our lives with a partner can be one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives yet it will come with difficulties and strife along the way and we often need support to weather through these times of conflict.

Anxiety, depression, and stress often negatively affect the relationships with those you are closest with as others do not know how to best help and support you. Taking the steps towards changing unproductive patterns in life and creating balance is the best gift you can give yourself and it will improve the health of your relationships as well.
